Regulation and consumer acceptance may represent additional hurdles for autonomous vehicles. However, once these challenges are addressed, autonomous vehicles will offer tremendous value for consumers . Changing consumer preferences, tightening regulation, and technological breakthroughs add up to a fundamental shift in individual mobility behavior.
- AVL’s Stefan Pfragner and Christian Juwan present findings from their BMW iX benchmark study, which links technology to the vehicle’s strengths and highlights the end-consumer benefits.
- Between the years 2007 and 2012, the Indonesian economy grew at least 6.0 percent per year, with the exception of 2009 when GDP growth was dragged down by the global financial crisis.
- Currently, this electric motorcycle is in the massive production to produce 50 thousand units and will be in the marketplace in 2018.
- You will learn about the advantage of using SiC power modules in high-power traction inverter applications for your next new energy vehicle design in this webinar.
Although the relatively new low-cost green car has gained popularity in Indonesia , most Indonesians still prefer to buy the multipurpose vehicle . Indonesians love the MPV, known as “people carriers”, as these vehicles are bigger and taller than most other car types. Indonesians need a big car because they enjoy taking trips with the family (and/or invite some friends). Car manufacturers are aware of high MPV demand in Indonesia and therefore continue to launch new models. With functionality in check, manufacturers now particularly focus on improving the design of the MPV to entice Indonesian consumers. Per 2017 Indonesia’s total installed car production capacity stands at 2.2 million units per year.
FMG, Beijing Automotive Group, China Motor, and Daimler has a joint venture called Fujian Benz. FMG, China Motor, and Mitsubishi Motors has a joint venture called Soueast, FMG holds a 50% stake, and both China Motor and Mitsubishi Motors holds an equal 25% stake. The process evolved from engineers working on a stationary car, to a conveyor belt system where the car passed through multiple stations of more specialized engineers. Starting in the 1960s, robotic equipment was introduced to the process, and today most cars are produced largely with automated machinery. Heavy-duty trucks are high-margin profit machines that will be key to funding automakers’ electric ambitions, but executives say the segment is likely to be among the last in the industry to get battery power — if it ever does. Enabled by SAP technology, we are transforming the battery storage industry, improving customer experiences, and gaining significant competitive advantage.

It is a very difficult challenge for western brands to compete with their Japanese counterparts in Indonesia, known as the backyard of Japanese car manufacturers. Some estimates surpass 180,000 L of water per car manufactured, depending on whether tyre production is included. Production processes that use a significant volume of water include surface treatment, painting, coating, washing, cooling, air-conditioning and boilers, not counting component manufacturing. Paintshop operations consume especially large amounts of water, because equipment running on water-based products must also be cleaned with water. In this next iteration of Automotive, companies must get creative about how they reshape their products, structure their businesses, use technology, and reimagine the services and experiences they bring to their customers.
A powerful combination
The government set several terms and conditions for the manufacturing of LCGCs. For example, fuel consumption is required to be set at least 20 kilometers per liter while the car must consist – for 85 percent – of locally manufactured components . In exchange, the LCGCs are exempted from luxury goods tax, which allows manufacturers and retailers to set cheaper prices. Electric starter, a significant innovation in promoting the acceptability of the gasoline-powered automobile.
